How to Use Props Naturally in Photos (Blankets, Baskets, Flowers, and Animals)

    Props can elevate a photoshoot — or distract from it. The secret isn’t adding more… it’s choosing pieces that feel natural, timeless, and true to the story you’re trying to tell.

Blankets

    Pick textures, not patterns:

• cream knit throws

• lightweight linen

• soft muslin for babies

Avoid bright colors or bold designs — they pull the eye away from faces.

Baskets

    Perfect for spring shoots. Use them for:

• florals

• picnic setups

• toddlers holding seasonal items

• branding props for makers

Flowers

    The ranch offers plenty during spring — but even a few stems can soften photos instantly.

Animals

    Goats = laughter

    Donkeys = sweetness

    Dogs = real life

    Chickens = charm

The rule: let the animal be the animal. Their personality is the prop.

Where Props Feel Most Natural at the Ranch

• porch swing

• garden gate

• picnic areas

• tall grass open field

• beside the tractor

• under the oak tree

Planning a Shoot With Props

👉 You can reserve the ranch for spring sessions through our booking page.

Photographers are welcome to bring props, or use the ranch’s natural assets — the land already does half the work.

With love,
